Trolling motors allow freshwater anglers to sneak up on fish and also to position the boat for easy casting.Stern Thruster are powered by electricity, so they are quieter and more reliable than outboard motors. However, they do sometimes have problems. Damaged propellers, weak batteries and blown fuses can put a stop to your day on the water.
Check the battery lead cable and connections before using the Boat Thruster. Make sure that the connectors are tight, and that there are no kinks or frays in the cables. Check that the propeller nut is tight, and the blades have no damage.
Remove a damaged propeller by unscrewing the propeller nut using a prop wrench. Disconnect the motor from the battery, then hold the prop in one hand while unscrewing the nut with the other.
Replace the propeller with a new prop, making sure it fits securely over the pin in the propeller shaft. Screw the propeller nut back in with the wrench.
Remove any weeds, fishing line or other debris after using the motor. Check the propeller nut again, and rinse the motor with fresh water to remove any dirt.
